Meet the Company: Schwope Brothers West Coast grows over 600 acres of bareroot trees and packaged trees in Banks, OR. We specialize in conifer, shade, ornamental, and fruit trees. This is a fast-paced, innovative organization that is revolutionizing the way trees are grown for increased performance and aesthetic appeal. SBWC is part of the DCA Outdoor family of brands, which is a vertically integrated organization focused on streamlining the production and distribution of landscape products nationwide.

This is a full-time role onsite at Schwope Brothers West Coast in Banks, Oregon.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Key Accounts & Clients Relationships – Develop business relationships with our customers’ buyers and decision makers, service the outside reps at PlantRight Solutions, help develop new relationships by participating in sales trips and tradeshows.
  • Order Management – Ensure that orders are well balanced, booked on time, allocated intentionally to best achieve our company mission, and shipped at the proper time. This also requires that orders be evaluated to protect the availability by ensuring customers are not holding back material that could be sold elsewhere. Regularly arrange freight. Work with Sales Manager to process credit requests.
  • Team Leadership – Take a leadership role within the sales team, help support team members, achieve sales goals, adhere to company policy, follow core values, and solve problems in a positive, respectful way.
  • Be an expert resource for customers – Demonstrate expert knowledge of the nursery industry, plant material, and market conditions. Understand regional differences, plant hardiness, and be able to make appropriate substitution suggestions that will help fill the customers’ needs. Be familiar with our inventory, growing cycles, and crops on the ground.
  • CRM Management – Maintain accurate contact information for customers in SalesForce and SBI, ensure customer contacts are documented in SalesForce, work with PlantRight Solutions sales representatives to maintain Sales Opportunities and Cases. Ensure the proper contacts are in SBI and selected to receive invoices. Maintain accurate terms and discounts in SBI and SalesForce.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Manage sales orders; enter, allocate, ship, etc.
  • Generate content for Marketing and Advertising; help create the availability mailing.
  • Maintain a high level of customer service through phone calls, electronic communication, and customer visits. Document in CRM.
  • Visit customers and DCA Outdoor facilities to develop relationships and gain knowledge.
  • Inspection of material before shipping and communicating grading with customers.
  • Adjust inventory as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Industry Expertise:
    • Comprehensive knowledge of the nursery industry, including plant material, market conditions, and regional differences
    • Understanding of plant hardiness and ability to make informed substitution suggestions
  • Sales and Customer Service:
    • Ability to think critically and strategically to drive sales growth
    • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key clients
    • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Operational Acumen:
    • Familiarity with inventory management, growing cycles, and crops on the ground
    • Understanding of customer needs and preferences
  • Technical Competency:
    • Proficiency in CRM software (SalesForce and SBI Preferred)
    • Experience with order management and logistics
    • Ability to learn new software and adapt to changing technology

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Required: 5 years in related fields of Sales and Nursery Industry
  • Required: Good knowledge of plant material; Ability to identify cultivars on sight
  • Highly Preferred: Bilingual in Spanish & English
  • Highly Preferred: CRM Experience; SalesForce
