About Us: KAT Wholesale Outdoor, located in the Kansas City area, is known for our expansive selection of premium-quality plant material and hardscaping products offered exclusively to landscapers and contractors.

This position is full-time onsite at KAT Wholesale in our North Kansas City, Missouri location.

Salary Range: $75,000.00-$85,000.00 base + variable compensation!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Lead, manage, and hold accountable the site team to ensure the successful execution of operational plans and goals. Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes open communication, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Revenue Growth and Sales Execution: Accountable for driving revenue growth within the division by establishing ambitious sales goals and implementing a targeted sales strategy. Leveraging your strong leadership to inspire and motivate the site team to not only meet but exceed sales targets. Cultivate a culture of execution by closely monitoring performance, applying best practices, and swiftly addressing challenges to ensure the team stays on course. Focus on enhancing both sales outcomes and customer experience throughout the process.
  • Operational Excellence: Drive results-oriented performance and ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Oversee site profitability, ensuring effective product flow, team management, inventory control, facility and equipment maintenance, customer experience, and sustained sales growth.
  • Budgeting & Cost Management: Manage site budgets, forecasts, and expenses to ensure cost-effective operations. Monitor financial performance against budget targets and develop corrective actions to address any variances.
  • Reporting & Compliance: Report on regular reports on site performance, including KPIs, financials, and compliance metrics. Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Team Leadership:
    • Motivate and engage the site team through effective leadership practices, providing encouragement, support, and recognition to drive high performance.
    • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes open communication, collaboration, and continuous improvement
    • Conduct regular team meetings and one-on-ones to discuss performance, goals, and challenges
  • Revenue Growth and Sales Execution:
    • Partner with Senior Leadership to establish clear and ambitious sales targets for the team, aligned with the overall division objectives, and communicate these goals effectively to all team members
    • Regularly track and analyze sales performance metrics, providing feedback and guidance to team members to ensure they remain focused on achieving and exceeding targets
    • Identify and share sales best practices within the team, fostering an environment of continuous improvement and learning
    • Work closely with the team to enhance the customer experience by promoting a customer-centric approach in all sales interactions and ensuring timely follow-ups
    • Prepare and present regular sales performance reports to stakeholders, highlighting achievements, challenges, and areas for growth.
  • Operational Excellence:
    • Execute on the achievement of company’s goals and individual targets, aligning with company’s policies and strategies
    • Analyze sales data and market trends to identify opportunities for growth and improvement
    • Monitor and adjust operational processes to ensure efficient use of resources and minimize waste
    • Identify areas for process improvement and implement changes to improve efficiency, productivity, and quality
    • Prioritize and enforce safety protocols to create a safe working environment, ensuring compliance with regulations and fostering a culture of safety among all team members
  • Budgeting & Cost Management:
    • Manage site budgets, forecasts, and expenses to ensure cost-effective operations
    • Monitor expenses against budget targets and identify areas for cost reduction or optimization
    • Analyze financial data to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and areas for cost reduction
  • Reporting & Compliance:
    • Report on regular reports on site performance, including KPIs, financials, and compliance metrics
    • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
    • Participate in regular reporting meetings with leadership to provide updates on site performance

  • Performance Monitoring and Analytics: Proficient in tracking sales performance metrics and utilizing analytics to provide actionable insights, refining sales strategies to optimize outcomes and drive sustained growth.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Operations Management, or a related field OR equivalent professional working experience doing high volume sales and operations
  • Required: 5 years of experience and proven track record of leading and managing a team to achieve sales initiatives and operational goals and objectives
  • Required: Experience in budgeting, cost management, and financial reporting
  • Highly Preferred: 5+ years of management experience in the green industry or related fields, landscaping, garden centers, and nurseries
  • Highly Preferred: Industry product knowledge, including both green good and hard good products
