Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership: Lead, manage and hold accountable brand leaders and direct reports. Serve as the company’s highest senior financial expert that includes directing and advising company leadership on financial matters.
  • Financial Stewardship: Serve as the strategic financial leader of the organization, overseeing all financial functions including budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Financial Modeling & Reports Enhancement: Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models to facilitate detailed forecasting, scenario analysis, and decision support. Regularly enhance financial reporting frameworks to provide deeper insights into key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational efficiencies, ensuring reports are tailored to meet the needs of different stakeholders, including executive management.
  • Systems and Software Optimization: Oversee the evaluation, implementation, and ongoing management of financial systems and software solutions to enhance operational efficiency. Ensure integration of financial technology that supports accurate reporting, streamlined workflows, and data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Leadership: Direct brand leaders and direct reports, ensuring accountability and serving as the primary advisor on financial strategies.
  • Financial Stewardship: Ensure the financial health of the company by integrating financial strategies with operational goals, driving performance improvement, and implementing best practices in financial governance that align with long-term objectives and support sustainability.
  • Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation and analysis of monthly financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial standards. Collaborate closely with the internal accounting and finance team, as well as organizational leadership, to deliver valuable insights and support strategic decision-making through comprehensive financial analysis. Present financial data and trends clearly to enhance understanding and facilitate informed decisions.
  • Systems Optimization: Manage the implementation of financial systems and software to enhance efficiency and support data-driven decision-making across the organization.
  • Cash Flow Management: Adopt a proactive strategy for managing cash flow by focusing on accurate forecasting and maximizing cash reserves. Regularly assess and update accounting policies and procedures to guarantee compliance with GAAP and statutory accounting standards, including effective cash flow forecasting, adherence to federal and state regulations, and fulfillment of tax reporting obligations.
  • Borrowing Base Management: Oversee and optimize the company's borrowing base to ensure sufficient liquidity while managing credit facilities effectively.
  • Bank Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with banking partners to enhance financial support, negotiate favorable terms, and address the company's evolving financial needs.
  • Insurance Relationship Management: Manage relationships with insurance providers, focusing on creative planning for Property & Casualty (P&C) coverage and the management of phantom stock plans to align with the company’s risk management strategies.
  • Project Management: Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of all assigned financial projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives. Facilitate cross-functional collaboration across departments to ensure smooth execution of financial initiatives, providing regular updates to leadership on project status, risks, and opportunities for improvement.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Leadership and Team Development: Proven track record of inspiring cross-functional teams with a focus on accountability and financial discipline
  • Advanced Financial Modeling: Expertise in developing complex financial models for data-driven decisions and scenario analysis
  • Relationship Management: Expertise in cultivating and maintaining robust relationships with banks, credit institutions, and insurance providers, utilizing negotiation skills to secure favorable terms and enhancements to financial strategies
  • Change Management: Ability to navigate and lead through periods of transition, ensuring seamless integration of new financial systems and processes while fostering a culture of adaptability and resilience among teams
  • Visionary Leader: As an empathetic and inspirational leader, dedicated to aligning teams with a shared vision for sustainable growth and innovation
  • Financial Technologies: Familiarity with the latest financial systems and software, with the ability to evaluate, implement, and optimize solutions for improved operational efficiency
  • Risk Management Expertise: Knowledge of risk assessment and management strategies related to insurance and borrowing practices that safeguard the company’s financial health

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in finance/accounting/business administration
  • Preferred: CPA license
  • Required: 10+ years of financial accounting experience with demonstrated leadership skills
  • Required: Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, inventory turns, ratios, financial planning, asset management, and modeling using Generally Accepted Accounting standards
  • Required: Acquisition due diligence experience
  • Preferred: Agriculture, Nursery, Horticulture industry experience is a plus
