The Territory Sales Specialist is the pivotal driver of the company's growth and market expansion within their designated region (Kansas, Missouri, Iowa and Nebraska). - This is a full-time role that has a home base of Kansas or Missouri, travelling in their territories.
- Salary Range: $55,000k-$70,000 dependent on experience + variable compensation earned through sales objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify Prospects: Proactively research and identify potential customers and business opportunities within assigned territories to expand the customer base. And partner with internal teams to recognize potential opportunities within the customer base, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of available leads for effective outreach and engagement. Leverage data analytics and market research to enhance outreach strategies and tailor communications effectively.
- New Revenue: Build, develop, and capitalize on new business opportunities to drive significant revenue growth and achieve sales targets within the territory.
- Follow up on Leads: Respond promptly and effectively to customer inquiries, providing accurate information and tailored solutions. Follow up diligently on all leads and sales opportunities to maximize conversion and revenue potential and ensure that each interaction is personalized and value driven.
- Document Activity: Maintain detailed records of customer interactions, inquiries, and transactions in the CRM system (Salesforce) & HubSpot to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of activities and facilitating follow-ups.
Essential Job Duties:
- Travel within assigned territories to prospect new business and uncover additional sales opportunities
- Proactively cold call potential leads to establish new sales opportunities and expand the customer base
- Visit landscapers, landscape architects, golf courses, municipalities, universities, commercial developers, residential builders, re-wholesalers, and garden centers regularly to build relationships and identify promising sales prospects (but not limited too)
- Meet and exceed sales goals for hard goods and green goods product lines through effective territory management and customer engagement
- Conduct engaging nursery tours to educate customers about DCA Outdoor products and services, strengthening customer relationships
- Announce special promotions to customers through HubSpot and follow up consistently to maximize promotional effectiveness
- Bid on projects received via fax, email, or website, and maintain consistent follow-up with customers to improve project conversion rates
- Track open orders diligently and follow up to schedule customer pick-ups and deliveries efficiently
- Promptly follow up on customer inquiries, orders, and requests to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and to address their needs effectively
- Utilize upselling techniques and suggest product substitutions during interactions to increase market share with both new and existing customers
- Participate actively in trade shows by showcasing products, engaging with prospects, strengthening existing relationships, and promoting current offers
- Regularly update and maintain accurate records in the CRM system to ensure data integrity and effective reporting
- Develop and execute strategic territory plans with clear goals and activity schedules to meet sales targets
- Stay informed about industry developments, market trends, and competitor activities to identify new opportunities and potential threats
- Collect and relay customer feedback and market intelligence to internal teams to improve products, services, and sales strategies
- Collaborate with marketing, product, and customer service teams to align efforts and support sales initiatives
- Follow all safety guidelines and industry regulations during field visits and customer interactions

Minimum Qualifications:
- Required: 3+ years' experience in high volume outside territory sales and account management
- Required: Travel throughout territory of Kansas, Missouri, Iowa and Nebraska
- Required: 3+ years of experience in a nursery, landscape industry, or related field
- Required: Strong knowledge of green products and hard goods
- Preferred: Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Business Administration
- Preferred: Bilingual English and Spanish skills
- Preferred: 3+ years if Salesforce; Tableau and PowerBi are a bonus
