About Us: KAT Wholesale Outdoor, located in the Kansas City area, is known for our expansive selection of premium-quality plant material and hardscaping products offered exclusively to landscapers and contractors.
- Salary Range: $70,000-$80,000 range based on experience + variable compensation based on sales & site profitability
- This is a full-time role working in Olathe, Kansas.
Key Responsibilities:
- LMA: Lead, manage, and hold accountable the site team to ensure the successful execution of operational plans and goals. Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes open communication, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Budgeting/P&L: Manage site budgets, forecasts, and expenses to ensure cost-effective operations. Monitor financial performance against budget targets and develop corrective actions to address any variances.
- Sales Goals: Strategically drive sustainable revenue growth at the site level and positively impact on the overall distribution division. Leverage data-driven insights and innovative sales strategies to enhance sales performance while simultaneously improving the customer experience to foster long-term loyalty.
- Operational Execution: Drive results-oriented performance and ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Oversee site profitability, ensuring effective product flow, team management, inventory control, facility and equipment maintenance, customer experience, and sustained sales growth.
- Customer Relationships (Bosses): Cultivate and maintain strategic, long-term relationships with the leadership teams of key accounts. Engage regularly with their decision-makers to understand their evolving needs, objectives, and challenges. Foster trust and collaboration through transparent communication, delivering value-driven solutions that support mutual business growth.
Essential Job Duties:
- Execute on strategic plans for the site’s growth and operational excellence, aligning with division goals and market opportunities
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing development of team members to build a skilled, motivated, and high-performing workforce capable of supporting current and future business needs
- Lead change initiatives across the organization, championing innovation and continuous improvement
- Motivate and actively engage the site team through regular coaching, recognition, and support to maintain high performance and foster a positive work environment
- Conduct weekly team meetings and one-on-one coaching sessions to review performance, set objectives, and address challenges promptly
- Support operational needs on the ground by assisting with equipment operation or support, inventory management, operational issue resolution, and customer issue resolution
- Engage directly with the team on-site whether on the yard, in the field, or during customer interactions to support daily operations, drive sales, promote safety, and maintain plant health
- Oversee facility, equipment, and transportation maintenance schedules to minimize downtime, ensure safety, and maintain a fully operational environment
- Ensure inventory accuracy, optimize product flow to meet customer demand, support plant health through irrigation and maintenance, and enhance delivery service to improve customer satisfaction
- Lead the enhancement of delivery services and express lane product pickup, ensuring organization and communication align with customer expectations of convenience and speed
- Enhance customer service and retention by proactively addressing customer needs and inquiries, ensuring timely follow-up, and collaborating with the team to continuously improve service quality
- Cultivate and maintain long-term, strategic relationships with key account leadership by engaging regularly with decision-makers, understanding their evolving needs and objectives
- Promote a safety-first culture to ensure compliance with all safety regulations
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for operational efficiency, sales, safety, customer satisfaction, and team engagement; leverage data for continuous improvement
- Lead crisis management and problem-solving efforts to swiftly address operational disruptions, safety incidents, or customer issues, minimizing impact
- Support short-term department results and issue resolution as the primary accountable leader, ensuring timely and effective solutions
- Focus on increasing departmental annual operational results, revenue, and overall performance growth
- Evaluate and optimize supply chain and logistics processes to improve delivery times, reduce costs, and increase customer satisfaction, while managing vendor relationships and procurement activities to ensure quality, cost control, and timely delivery of products and services
- Manage and track site budgets, forecasts, and expenses to ensure adherence to financial targets; identify variances and implement corrective actions as necessary
- Develop and implement operational improvements aimed at increasing efficiency, reducing waste, and boosting overall site performance
- Remove obstacles and provide solutions within the team and across departments to ensure smooth operations and collaboration in a cross-functional environment
- Maintain regular communication with key account leadership to strengthen strategic relationships and support long-term mutual growth
- Collaborate with marketing to support promotional activities, gather customer feedback, and increase engagement

Minimum Qualifications:
- Required: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Agriculture, Operations Management, or a related field OR equivalent work experience with a minimum of 5 years in a relevant leadership or operational role
- Required: Proven success in leading sales and operational teams, with at least 5 years of experience developing and executing strategies to drive revenue growth, improve operational efficiency, and enhance customer satisfaction
- Preferred: Experience in the green industry or related fields such as landscaping, garden centers, or nurseries
- Highly Preferred: Knowledge of green industry products, including both green goods and hard goods, to support sales and operational strategies effectively
